Fat Shark Pro Start FPV Drone Kit

I dipped my toes into FPS with an Aquila16 and decided to upgrade into digital with this kit. I am a beginner and still learning the basics. First impressions: Unboxing the kit was a bit concerning. Apparently the goggle battery pack had popped loose from its slot and was floating around the inside of the kit along with the three battery packs. Luckily nothing seemed to be damaged beyond a scuff or two. The items with straps were secure, and the lenses and controller screen had screen protectors that probably saved me from major disappointment. The slots in the included case do not hold the batteries securely under normal carrying force so I only carry it flat. That is a half star away from my rating. The included battery charger is fantastic and learning about it has taught me a lot about how to properly handle and prepare my batteries. Love that. Next step: Batteries charged. The headset fits gloriously is crisp and sharp once you discover that each eye can be focused independently (after several flights). The controller boots but the drone doesn't arm. After reviewing the guides and included documentation and the linked videos. Ultimately it turned out that the binding with the drone either hadn't been established or had been reset. Back to the guides and videos to figure out how to put the drone into binding mode. In hindsight the controller manual included the information I needed under the heading: "model selection and protocol selection (ELRS version) "Cycle power to the receiver 3 times" which I now know means connect and disconnect the battery of the drone 3 times to go into binding mode. Once all that was squared away I was flying and having a blast. Going from analog box goggles to the Dominator headset with the upgraded visuals coming out of that tiny drone is game-changing. Suddenly I can see branches, wires, chains, children, the ground, even without direct sunlight. The Vision40 is amazingly nimble and recovers well when things get bumped. Total beginner things that I would suggest calling out: Binding process. Battery charging/storage best practice info. Warning about the video system overheating if the drone sits idle. Summary: The value in this kit feels very worth while. The goggles are fantastic. The drone is fantastic. The charger is fantastic. The controller is great but not documented very well in this kit. (the quick guide includes the text: "need add something here about bind ELRS" :) ) Spare props included, but no prop wrench. I wish there was more "Beginner" documentation inside or maybe even a next steps guide for stuff like tuning the controller for tighter spaces. Great kit for learning and I look forward to playing with it more, but it is missing just a few "Starter kit" things to make me drop a star.

This is my first fpv drone and the drone flies very good and is very fun, but I gave it 4 stars because the souldering is not very good and the frame is not very strong.

A great kit for if you're just getting into flying FPV drones. It comes with everything you need to get up and flying (I encourage getting more batteries) all packaged nicely into a formed case. The goggles and controller will grow with you if you plan on upgrading to a different/larger drone in the future. I appreciate what Rotor Riot did with this kit as it makes the leap into FPV less daunting and accessible to everyone. Your next purchase should probably be a soldering iron though if this is your first kit because you are bound to crash and break it. All part of the fun!

Fat Shark Pro Start FPV Drone Kit

This is my first FPV quad. The kit came exactly as described. Watched the video on rotor riot workbench while Charging everything up and follow the set up instructions. Everything connected right away and works perfect. The radio connects easily to liftoff, good for warm ups before actually flying. This little Vision40 1s can Rip it up! All said for what you get for the price it's scandalous Thank you Rotor Riot!
